Life enlightenment: How to save a spoiled thing
Do not be discouraged if you ruined your favorite dress with a stain on it, or burned your skirt with an iron
Do not be discouraged if you ruined your favorite dress by putting a stain on it, or burned the skirt with an iron. Believe that not everything is lost. A damaged item can be repaired so that it looks like new.
If the fabric was originally sewn to an elastic belt, then you can replace it with a new one yourself by buying a thick elastic band in haberdashery, or contact an atelier: such a service will cost from 200 to 700 rubles. If the belt was made using elastic threads visible on the front side, it will be difficult to restore it, you need a special sewing machine.
A small hole can be sewn in an atelier or dry cleaning for 100-200 rubles. To put the patch on your own, the hole must be carefully cut out in the form of a square or rectangle in the direction of the threads. Cut corners by 5 mm, bending the seamy side of the edge on all sides. Place a flap on the hole and sew with a frequent zigzag seam.
A small (non-greasy) stain on a cloth bag can be removed if you rub it with an eraser. A leather bag can be cleaned by wiping the skin with a cut onion. To make the leather bag shine, wipe it with a cotton swab dipped in lemon juice. Clean your suede bag with a rubber brush. Shine can be removed from overgrown areas using a mixture of warm milk and soda.
Get rid of yellow spots
Sweat stains on a white cotton shirt are easy to handle. Fresh stains can be removed from colored or silk fabrics with a solution of sodium chloride: 1 tbsp. spoon into a glass of water. A strong salt solution is suitable for wool items, and if it does not help, you can wipe the contaminated area with alcohol. It should be remembered: the older the stain, the harder it is to cope with.
To clean the suede gloves, prepare the mixture: ½ cup skim milk, ½ teaspoon soda and ½ teaspoon ammonia. Then put on gloves and wipe the soiled area with a cotton swab. Wipe wrinkled hard leather gloves (after drying on the battery) with a clean cloth dipped in castor oil (evenly, neatly and quickly, otherwise stains will remain).
Squeeze a stretched collar
Synthetic sweaters are almost impossible to restore to their original shape, especially if you used a tumble dryer. Wet a stretched sweater made of wool or cotton, put it on a flat surface and use your hands to get the shape you want. Then press firmly with a dry towel so that it absorbs water. This method is suitable for slightly shrunken things.
Change old lining
In some cases, you can simply tear it off and wear the item unlined by wearing a combination. If the item is uncomfortable to wear without a liner, it can be hemmed or changed in the atelier or dry cleaning. Replacing the lining will cost 200-1500 rubles. depending on the complexity of the work and the material used. The lining in the bag is replaced in restoration workshops.
Dye dark clothes
The only way to restore the former brightness of the fabric is re-dyeing. It is easy to make at home, but the paint may lie unevenly and clothes will shed much when washing. In dry cleaning, only those things that are allowed to be washed at a temperature of 90 degrees can be painted. In other cases, dry cleaning does not bear any responsibility for the appearance and quality of painting products.
Refresh worn shoes
You can remove stains from leather shoes with a cloth soaked in gasoline. Contaminated suede shoes can be easily cleaned with soapy water and a few drops of ammonia. Hydrogen peroxide will help get rid of the smell.
Restore original color
If clothes accidentally turn blue or black, try washing them again in hot water (without drying), adding strong chlorine bleach. You may need more than one wash.
